Australian Football League First Aid
Colmed Group has assisted AFL football clubs at all levels from local junior clubs up to,
and including senior AFL clubs.
Colmed Group has assisted AFL football clubs at all levels, from local junior clubs up to, and including senior AFL clubs. By its very nature, football is a sport that is very tough on the body, so players need access to immediate medical attention when they have been injured. It is in the Club’s best interests that they minimise the damage injuries caused to players and the best way to do that is by providing first aid care as soon as an injury occurs. Club Committee Members have a duty of care to their players and members to ensure players are appropriately cared for if they are injured. This duty of care extends to complying with the League’s Policy and Procedure, relating to having appropriately trained Medics and Trainers on hand on match days.
Individual Committee Members may be held liable if the Committee fails to comply with the League’s Policies and Procedures and a player is injured. When football clubs use our Medics for match day, the Committee can be assured that they are comprehensively insured and protected by our 20 million dollar Professional Indemnity Insurance. Because Medics are employees and not volunteers, they are also are covered by our WorkCover Policy so if they are injured on the job, the Committee or Club will not have to pay them compensation.
Colmed Group has provided medics for football club family days, match days and community days. We have also provided sports trainers, where and when required. We have treated all manner of injuries from the field, including cuts and grazes, concussion, broken limbs and even suspected spinal injuries. Horse & Pony Club First Aid
Colmed Group provides first aid services to horse and pony clubs
throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria.
All forms of equestrian events carry inherent risk to the participants, and horse riding is dangerous by its nature. Having qualified first aid medics on hand to treat injured riders is almost a necessity, particularly where clubs may be legally liable if their members are injured while riding at their clubs. This liability could extend to spectators where they are injured by runaway horses. Whilst clubs and organisers cannot guarantee competitor and spectator safety as horses can be unpredictable, they can guarantee that first aid response will be on hand to care of the injured. This means that they will have discharged their duty of care to competitors and spectators alike. Colmed Group provides first aid services to horse and pony clubs throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. We have assisted with paramedical services at large events held at Werribee horse park and also at local pony club, and adult riding rally days where first aid medics have been required. Colmed Group has experience dealing with injuries sustained by horse riders and we have assisted adult riding clubs, horse and pony clubs and other organised horse competitions with their first aid needs. This has allowed the clubs and event organisers to discharge their duty of care to their riders, which provides peace of mind to organisers and competitors alike. For all equestrian events, Colmed Group has you covered.
